This is a good sweet potato fries recipe, but I would make a few adjustments: bake in a glass cake pan - they don't stick quite so much and clean up is a lot easier. I toss mine with just enough oil to coat and whatever seasonings I want (salt, pepper, and garlic, and sometimes some rosemary). Also, I bake mine at 400 degrees for 20 minutes, turning halfway through. You can always bake them for longer if they are not quite done, but can't go back in time if you cook them too long!

These turned out great! I see a lot of people saying they weren't crispy enough. If you soak them in cold water for about 45 minutes before baking they will crisp up nicely.

I make these often. I cut them so that they're circular. I use olive oil and bit of salt - no garlic. If you need them done quick, broil them, flipping half-way through - only takes a couple minutes to cook them this way!

This is a popular recipe in my house, always make it for holiday table. I do not use sea salt - comes out too salty; I use the same amount of kosher salt. I also add a pinch of chili pepper to the spice mix. After consulting with my friends used to Southern cuisine, I now add a pinch of nutmeg and ground cloves to the spice mix, to enhance the flavor

Excellent recipe! I cook for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through. The flavors are easy to change- I often just do salt, cayenne, and cumin. A staple! Just a tip, I always bake mine on parchment paper. Easy cleanup and crispy fries. :-)

This turn awesome and little bit healthier than fried potatoes. I did some changes adding parsley to the mix, and olive oil instead of soybean oil. I put the potatoes on the sprayed pan and some extra olive oil over that (less than 1 teaspoon), baked the first side for 30 min. and turn over the sweet potatoes and drops of olive oil, left them baked for other 15 min. and they were just amazing! Crispy outside and tender inside.

It was alright, but not very different than regular oven roasted sweet potato. I would like to find a way to make them more crispy on the outside.
12/16/2014
These were delicious even though I forgot the garlic powder and used olive oil. I didn't measure anything, basically just sprinkled and tossed everything right in the glass pan used to bake them in.
01/09/2015
Delicious. I broiled the potato wedges to crisp them.
11/03/2014
Didn't change a thing and my husband, who hates sweet potato, can't get enough of these fries! These are the only fries we make at home now. Thank you for sharing your simply delicious recipe.

Baked some tonight tasted great but need to cook this a little shorter
07/05/2017
i blanched mine for 3-4 minutes, waited till they cooled down, then before mixing with oil add a little potato starch to lightly coat them. then i bake them for 30+ minutes. super crisp!
09/13/2014
I made this tonight for dinner it was good but needs less paprika

Oven Baked Sweet Potato Fries Haiku: "Baked a bit longer, was hoping they'd 'crispify', but oh man great taste!" Not sure if there's a trick to getting sweet potatoes to get crispier when baked, but texture aside, the taste of these was fantastic. I see one review saying to cook a bit shorter, but I ended up baking mine longer and flipping them more frequently. Always happy to find a sweet potato recipe that's not bathed in sweet ingredients!
12/02/2016
yum! I used canola oil instead of soybean oil and parchment paper instead of cooking spray.
09/27/2016
These sweet potato fries (baked) are so tasty. Everyone in my family loved them and asked me to make them again. They are crunchy and the sea salt is the tasty saltiness to the sweetness of the potatoes. This is a keeper! I do want to add that I did have to bake them longer for them to become crunchy.
01/09/2016
Didn't bother with the garlic but they turned out great, check the other users photos as they give good indication of cutting size of the sweet potato. Mine came out crispy enough, I opened the cooker to check if they were good, turned off the oven and left them in their for about 5-10mins whilst I was finishing the main, maybe this contributed to the crispiness Very good

As a pancreatic cancer survivor I cannot eat fried food so to find an alternative is amazing. These are so good. I paired it with spicy sauce. Thank You
02/09/2016
Love these! I use cayenne instead of paprika a lot and also use olive oil instead of soybean oil. I haven't tried to soak them in water first, I will have to do that.
04/13/2017
These where really good!!!! I like them crispy, so I'm gonna try soaking them in ice water for 45 min next time. But flavor wise these are a for sure 5 star!
08/11/2015
Really tasty! I followed the recipe very closely, but I added some cayenne for a little kick. My thick wedges went toward the longer end of the cooking time, and I kicked in the convection for the last 5 minutes. I think if I had used convection all the way through, they might have crisped up a bit more. Thanks for the recipe! My son ate these, and he usually doesn't eat sweet potatoes without marshmallows.
12/09/2015
Perfect!!! I changed nothing.
03/03/2016
I made mine thinner and half of them came out a bit burnt. Next time I will lower the oven temp a bit and check on them more often. They were tasty though - I used a bit of corn starch to add crispiness.
11/06/2015
I make this often. Sometimes with and sometimes without the garlic powder. Good recipe. I go pretty light on the salt when I make mine. I find this recipe calls for a bit too much salt for my taste.
03/23/2019
I added everything of the listed ingredients. I put them in the oven for 13 minutes, then I flipped them over to put for an additional 13 minutes. When I took them out, they look golden and delicious! I tried one and the ends and sides are crispy and the middle body is soft. I would highly recommend this recipe!
11/22/2018
I loved the flavor of the potatoes, and used olive oil, salt, black pepper and garlic powder. I also soaked them for the 45 minutes recommended by another viewer, and it really didn't seem to make any difference. They still turned out rather soft.
10/01/2017
Love this! Super easy to make!
04/14/2019
I cut the strips quite thin. I used olive oil, a little orange flavored olive oil, and a bit of citrus habanero, and the rest the regular olive oil. Spices were what I had in the cupboard. So tasty. They were crispy. I through in a regular potato, too. Very good.
11/20/2017
Very good! Not very crisp but very yummy! The spices added nice flavor but not too much.
04/03/2020
These were sooo good! I looked at a couple recipes but this one was the closest to what I made. No photo because I ate them all right away (:P) My adjustments: preheat oven to 400°F. Cut potatoes the long way with approximately the width/depth as the size of my pinky finger (M-L glove size for reference) at the varying lengths of the potato. I used a glass pan (about 8x4), drizzled about 2-3 table spoons of olive oil and added salt, pepper, paprika and cayenne. I rolled each fry on all sides in the oil mix. I did it half a potato at a time cuz I ran out so I just did the same mix again. I placed them on a think baking sheet with parchment paper in a rows with a 1/2 inch in between each fry. At 400°F I cooked them for 20 minutes, then flipped, cooked for another 10, changed heat to 425°F and cooked for another 10 minutes. I like things soft and crispy and tiiiny bit burnt and this was PERFECT!!! the paprika salt and pepper and cayenne added to the sweet potato's natural flavor plus a tiny burnt was a delightful balance of sweet, salty, savory and spicy. I also used that glass pan with the tiny remnants of oil - I added some chopped carrots and water for the first 20 minutes, then added broccoli seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika for the last 20 minutes, taking out and stirring every once in a while to get the water contact/crispness balanced on the broccoli.
03/06/2016
May need a little longer cook time to get crispy
12/18/2014
Really enjoyed this recipe. The consistency was perfect -- not too soft.
01/12/2018
To make them a little bit more crisp, I put them under the broiler (on low) for a few minutes.
03/15/2015
I used olive oil and added rosemary but otherwise stuck to the recipe, and we loved it. Maybe not as crisp as I would like, but if I'd been patient and broiled them for a few minutes that would have solved the problem. But we couldn't wait to eat, and these fries were very tasty! Thanks for a great recipe!
01/15/2016
I cooked these fries on a baking sheet with parchment paper; easy clean up. Next, I used canola oil as I don't have soy. I tossed with course salt and Red Bell Pepper Chicken Seasoning. Basically, any seasoning that appeals to you will do.
08/31/2016
Another delcuois recipe love it
06/15/2019
I used a sheet of parchment paper on my baking pan and lightly sprayed with non stick oil. Easy cleanup !
03/05/2017
Turned out great
08/04/2015
Still loved this even though we were a little low on paprika.
03/03/2017
These fries are delicious. It was very little work for great taste!!!
02/07/2019
Recipe was easy and delicious. I just need to figure out a better way to cut the potatoes into wedges or fries!
12/11/2018
These are good. I was hoping to get them crunchy but maybe have to cut thinner.
01/27/2020
I used coconut oil, the only oil I had on hand. Keeping an eye on them, I left the fries in a little longer for extra crispiness. Very tasty!
10/27/2015
Simple and delicious - I use olive oil instead and a little extra salt.
04/19/2014
Easy to prepare and flavorful. Not at all chrispy.
01/02/2017
These were really tasty. I would cut the oil down a bit next time. I also broiled them on high at the end of the cook time to crisp them up a bit.
01/20/2017
I found the seasonings a little bland, so you might want to experiment with them. Otherwise, a great recipe! I will be making these again, for sure!
06/12/2018
I followed this recipe pretty closely. Good stuff, very simple. Definitely gonna make these more often. I think making the slides more uniform will help.
03/23/2020
The fries didn't crisp at all. Between the amount of oil and 'prepared' pan, they weren't able to brown. Had to broil them and they were still soft.
10/07/2018
I added brown sugar instead of paparika they were awesom. You can also use olive oil instead of vegetable oil.
08/06/2019
I left the skin on, and it was awesomeness! I also added cayene pepper as a spice; it added just the right zing!
10/20/2019
super easy and quick.
07/08/2018
Fantastic. I used sunflower oil as I didn't have any soy oil.
02/23/2018
I really enjoyed these! I've made a similar recipe and decided not to measure, but I probably did add more paprika than called for. I omitted the garlic (just couldn't imagine garlic on sweet potatoes). Instead of sticks, I made hearts. After all, it was the month of love :) Round slices would work just as well. I still cooked for about 20 minutes.
11/04/2019
I didn't measure my amount of oil, and I used my Copper Chef crisping mesh instead of a baking sheet. I used too much oil but these still tasted great! I believe they would have crisped more if I hadn't used so much oil. Plus, if I have time next time, I will put them in cold water before roasting as one of the reviews suggested. Thank you!
03/04/2020
I didnt add any garlic tone and this was my first try on sweet potato fries and I gotta day the were pretty good. Only difference with mine was that I did it in my air-fryer instead of the oven. I'd make it again
08/04/2019
i made with olive oil It was just like something else missing. I think some fries too thick and some too salty others were less salty and fat I could not get an even mixture
11/06/2018
Very delicious! Very healthy! Super easy to make!
05/18/2018
Really easy and delicious! Even my son that is not crazy about sweet potato loved these baked fries.
04/30/2018
I used coconut oil and it was excellent. Thank you for this recipe.
03/26/2019
I made these and they were delicious! Thank you Allrecipes for the recipe! Every recipe I have tried that Allrecipes has posted I have been very pleased with.
08/26/2018
Very nice recipe and flavoring, only down fall is I want them less mushy, to have a lovely crunch. I will make it again using this as a basis for something I'll tweak
04/10/2019
I made these sweet potato fries. I soaked them in cold water for an hour and a half. Then tossed with the oil and spices. Spread them on a baking sheet at 445 for 15 minutes and they were soft. I turned them and left them in another 10. Still soft but they were tasty. I have already researched how to get them crispy. I will make those and post them.
03/17/2020
I added some onion powder. They are delish!
05/03/2019
Tastiest sweet potato fries ever!
10/03/2018
I absolutely love these. Delicious treat!
11/02/2019
Flavor was good, but they didn't get crisp like I wanted.
06/26/2019
This recipe was good except my fries were a bit soggy. I didn't use enough sweet potatoes, I will try it again using more potatoes. They still tasted very good and my family still enjoyed them.
04/19/2018
Easy to make, great spices it was delicious, making it again!!
04/11/2019
Every one really liked these and said that " these fries beat our Clubhouse fries by far", so, we had a winner at this dinner.
07/19/2018
Subbed EVOO - used seasoned salt - broiled the last 7 min to get extra crispy. Yummy dipped in ketchup. My 4 yr old loved them.
05/17/2018
We love these! I have cut the taters in steak fries and 1/4 inch chips. Both ways work well with adjusted cook times for tenderness. I always double or triple the amount of spices.
10/07/2019
The seasoning was perfect! I enjoyed the fries, but didnt quite get the crispiness I was looking for. I'm not sure if that was because it was baked vs. Fried, or what, but I may tweak the recipe a bit by adding butter or more oil next time. Otherwise, it was still super tasty!
02/17/2016
A perfect recipe for simple sweet potato fries!
06/18/2018
I tossed these in the oven while my burgers were grilling and served it with the Spicy Fry Sauce found on Allrecipes. We love a good sweet potato fry and this one didn't dissapoint. It had a touch of spiciness to it and that was okay with us!
03/08/2020
Was great for original sweet potatoes fries! I put too much seasoning since I doubled the portion and didn't use correct measurements but I sprinkled some brown sugar on top to even it out.
03/03/2020
I used canola oil since I didn't have any vegetable oil. It came out pretty good! This is the only way I'll make sweet potato fries from now on.
11/25/2019
I made this recipe recently for my family. My older son loved it. ( When I make sweet potato fries with oregano he doesn't like them. ) I added at least twice the olive oil suggested by the recipe. I didn't want it to be too strong tasting, and the oil needed to stretch to cover two large sweet potatoes. I left out the pepper, and only put a few sprinkles of Himalayan pink sea salt, which I substituted for regular sea salt. After coating everything in oil, garlic powder, and paprika, by hand, I spread it out on a foil lined oven pan. I then sprinkled a little more garlic and paprika over it, and baked for twenty minutes. The kids and I love sweet potatoes, so we ate them all. Thank you for a recipe with paprika, instead of oregano. This will be my new recipe for sweet potato fries.
02/07/2020
I've made these twice now and they are very good. I did follow some of the suggestions of reviewers, like putting them in cold water 45 minutes before baking to make them crispier and mine did come out crispy. I also added nutmeg and ground cloves to the spices as suggested by others and I must say they were definitely tasty! These will be a regular side dish with turkey burgers.
01/19/2020
Recipe was awesome as written. I made them in my air fryer. It would not go up to 425 degrees, so I set it for the highest temp(400) and baked for 25 mins. They came out perfect. A big hit with the family!!!
05/18/2018
Good flavor for sweet potato fries, but the time to get these crisp takes far longer. I cut the sweet potatoes thin instead of in wedges, but at 25 min. they were still soft and I kept them in the oven for another 10-15 minutes. Then, I turned off the oven and left them in there, carefully checking every 5-7 minutes while finishing other dishes. After roughly 15 minutes more, some of the fries burned, but the others had the perfect texture. Will try the recipe again and soak the potatoes in water first as other reviewers recommended. Thanks for the recipe.
04/11/2020
It was good baked. Glad I cut into thin pieces. Always better fried but these were healthier—not as crispy but I like potatoes and enjoyed them with honey mustard dip.
11/17/2019
Will make again!
01/12/2019
Soo good definitely make them again this afternoon. I used some French fry seasoning to top them off after they were and mmm mm! So good!!
08/05/2019
The outside of the fries wasn't super crispy but they were delicious and toddler approved so I'm happy. Might try soaking in cold water before cooking next time to see if that helps but will definitely make again either way.
01/06/2020
Used extra virgin olive oil instead of vegetable oil
10/08/2019
Recipe was great! Needed a side dish for my grandson who is vegetarian. All ingredients were the usual household items. Simple, guick and delicious.
11/28/2019
Used canola oil. Excellent!
03/24/2020
I made it with 1 large sweet potato and used Olive Oil. I cooked it for longer than 30 min to get them crispy.
02/06/2019
It was really easy and very tasty
08/12/2018
tastes really good
03/21/2020
We made these the other night, delicious. Even our picky eater liked them and asked to make them again.
09/09/2018
I used lemon pepper instead of black an extra zing
04/25/2019
I left out the paprika.
05/25/2018
These are so yummy! Even my son that doubted the fries really enjoyed them. I cooked them a little extra long to crisp them up.
11/11/2018
Turned out great! I used parchment paper to line the baking sheets and flipped the fries over after 10 minutes. Sprinkled with seasoning salt after they were done. My family loves them and I feel better making these fries because they're healthy.
07/19/2018
I did cut the sweet potatoes into circles and added a little cinnamon which tasted great and my grandchildren loved it!! ????
01/28/2019
Soggy even after soaking for 45 min in water
11/01/2018
Soaked them for about an hour before baking, the texture was great considering they were oven baked. I also added some crushed steak spice in the seasoning mix. Husband, child and guests loved them! Served with Spicy mayo, makes for a great crowd pleaser!
